The Effects of Cane Bagging with polyethylene Film , Reflective (silver) and Transparent Film Mulch on Vine Growth and Berry Ripening of ¢¥ Campbell Early ¢¥ (Vitis labruscana B.) Grape

Abstract
The effects of cane bagging with polyethylene film, reflective and transparent film mulch on vine growth and berry ripening were studied on the 12-year-old-`Campbell Early¢¥ grape in 1983.
The results were summarized as follows:
Cane bagging with polyethylene film remarkably promoted the early growth such as bud burst, leaf expansion, and flowering, but adversely affected the cluster formation and the weight of bunch. With silver polyethylene film mulch and cane bagging with polyethylene film, alone and in combination, berry growth, coloration, and soluble solids formation were highly accelerated, and the harvest date for the first and the last crop was also promoted by 3 and 11 to 17 days, respectively. The transmittance of reflecting illuminance in silver polyethylene film mulch within canopy as compared with control, increased by 5.6 times during berry growth period. Also, silver polyethylene film mulch was effective in weed control.
